Geography
Climate
Being near the ocean affects the climate. The interior part of the region ranges from 25 degrees Celsius to -2 degrees Celsius On the coast, these temperatures drop. The close ocean also means lots of rain, between 1000mm to 1425mm per year, depending on location.
Flora
70% of the old growth forests in this region have been cut down. However, there is still a lot of vegetation Some types of trees that are found here include red spruce and white pine. Other plants that grow here are blueberries and ferns. Underwater plants in this region include seaweed and coral reefs, The plants in the Atlantic region have adapted in many ways. Spruce trees have needles to keep their heat in, and seaweed attaches itself to rocks to keep from floating away.
Deer, moose, black bears and coyotes live in this region. Birds that here include loons, Canada geese, and over 20 different types of ducks. There's also marine life, like crabs, mussels, whales, and porpoises. Whales have a layer of blubber to keep them warm, and they use echolocation to communicate.
Human Geography
The Appalachia has a population of 2 554 100 people, with most of them living near the coast, where agriculture is centered. Forestry is more prominent in the hills. Most people live in the plains of the region because of commercial fishing.
Economy
In the past, successful industries in the Atlantic region were fishing, forestry, mining, and agriculture. Many of these industries have since died down. The Atlantic has rich soil, and the main export now is for potatoes.
Environmental concern
The most serious concern out of many is the rising sea level. In the past 100 years, climate change has caused the sea level to rise 30 cm. If this continues, the sea level will continue to rise. The rising sea level is caused by global temperatures rising, which cause more humidity and storms. Some scientists have estimated that by the next century, the sea level could rise anywhere from 3 to 9 meters. The most effective solution would be to cutting down on fossil fuel usage and using more eco-friendly vehicles. I think that the best solution is cutting down on fossil fuel consumption as best we can.

|
The Appalachia region has a similar climate to northern U.S.A. Certain plants that grow there are pine, oak, as tree. Some adaptations the trees have developed are wider leaves to get more sun. Animals include deer, elk, shrew, black bears, moles and rats. Most mammals in this region have adapted to the cold winters through hibernation.
Kansas's economy is largely based on beef for it has the third biggest beef industry in the U.S.A, along with being a major trade zone it has the second largest rail network.
